I hear, you can do it in Message 3 of 7. There's a lisp being circulated that will extrude the threads. Chas wrote in message news discussion. Message 4 of 7. I can't find the lisp that Chas is referring to, but it was posted somewhere here within the past weeks. It does draw a solid thread, but I didn't check it for accuracy. You could download a free day trial of AutoCAD and follow this tutorial. You can save the file back to ealier version if needed. Message 5 of 7. If you want a generic bolt without thread you are welcome to the attached.
This is our 3D bolt template and should be self explanatory. If you want a bolt with the threads, then explore some of the others here. Or you can draw a half profile of a thread, revolve it and union to a hex head or type head needed. This thread would not be true as it would just run around the bolt rod, but unless you really need accuracy, it would be fine. Or you can draw one thread, revolve it, locate it on the bolt rod and rotate it slightly.
Then copy it as many times as necessary, then union, then slice the end, then union to a head as before. This will give you a little more "real" look to the thread. But be aware that any method with a lot of threads is going to bloat your file very quickly. Message 6 of 7. It wasn't too awfully hard to do. In the only Acis import I see is under the main menu "Insert Acis" Is that the translator you are using or is there another one?

Filter by Lables. Message 1 of Hi everone. I realize that most users want to go the other direction. In my case it is a customer requirement that all AutoCad geometry be 3D surfaces. Any help here would be appreciated.
Thank You. Message 2 of I gather that you are most likely doing work for real time rendering like games? Message 3 of You gather wrong. His models are auto-downloaded and auto-inserted into AutoDesk Revit. He stores everything he offers in earliest version of dwg format He can get away with.
He will not accept any other format. It is his requirement that the file contain only 3D surface geometry. No Solids ,Wireframe, or polys. Not 3D Solid. Explode does not convert a Body into 3D surfaces.
Edited by: Gruff on Oct 8, PM. Message 4 of You could run it through Inventor to get surfaces from the Body.
