Windows 7 install printer driver not installed access denied




















This is a local printer connected directly with a USB cable. This one belongs to the CEO and he will eventually print to it over his home wireless network. My issue is that I can't even get it to install through a USB cable. Recently been battling with the "Access Denied" when tyring to install HP Universal drivers and older Laserjet drivers.

Tried rebooting in safe mode, safe with networking, admin accounts, manually adding drivers, local print queues, network print queus, then found this thread. It wasn't enough to unload Officescan, I had to uninstall it. But as soon as I did, it started working again. We're on Officescan XG I suspect it will be on all Windows 10 at least though if the conditions are right.

This problem could be caused the driver you try to install. Please make sure the driver file is the correct latest one. Same problem, different solution. By taking ownership of these folders and resetting permissions I was then able to add new printers… Happy days!
